WHAT TO EXPECT
Give us the quick version.
Let us know what’s not working, what you’d like to replace, or what you’re hoping to add.
We’ll check your system.
We’ll look at the outlet, switch, or GFCI, the wiring, and the circuit to see what’s already there and what the job needs.
We’ll talk through your options.
We’ll tell you what needs to be repaired, installed, or replaced and what it will cost before we get started.
A few things you
might be wondering.
-
A GFCI may not reset if it isn’t getting power, there’s a problem somewhere else on the circuit, moisture is present, or the GFCI itself has failed. If it still won’t reset after anything plugged into it has been removed, it’s time for a closer look.
-
Yes. We’ll look at where you need the outlet and whether a nearby circuit can support it. If the job needs new wiring or access through a wall or attic, we’ll explain that before we get started.
-
Usually. Smart switches don’t work with every wiring setup, so include the make and model in your request if you have it. We’ll check that it’s compatible before installing it.
-
An outlet should not feel hot. Stop using it if you notice heat, discoloration, buzzing, or a burning smell. Those signs can point to a loose connection, damaged outlet, or problem with the circuit behind it.
-
The outlet or switch itself may be the problem, but not always. A tripped GFCI, loose connection, or issue somewhere else on the circuit can also cause it to stop working. We’ll check what’s actually causing the problem before replacing anything.
